Homemade Whole Grain Chips
Why I like this:
These are a terrific source of whole grain and they are easy to make! You can use store-bought tortillas or make your own homemade tortillas - search the Recipes tab for my Homemade Whole Grain Tortilla recipe. These are healthier than most store-bought chips because they are made of whole grain and you control how much, if any, salt to use.
Homemade Whole Grain Chips
Ingredients:
1 package of whole grain torillas (or make your own tortillas using my homemade whole grain tortilla recipe - search under the Recipe tab)
Olive oil spray
Herbs of choice (paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, or cinnamon)
Steps:
1) Place tortilla(s) on a cutting board and, with a pizza slicer, cut into 8 pieces.
2) Spray the pieces lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with herb of choice such as garlic, paprika, chili pepper, or cinnamon.
3) Heat the tortillas in an air fryer set to 300 degrees for approximately 8 minutes, shaking half way through. Or, bake in a 350 degree oven for 7 minutes, turn the chips over and bake for another 5-7 minutes, checking occasionally to make sure they don’t burn.
4) Use immediately or wrap individually in wax paper, place in an airtight container, and freeze.
